Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.

A 24-year-old man, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests follow a probe into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people were taken to the hospital for treatment and were later released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by a noxious substance thought to be pepper spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism - caused train delays and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the T3 parking facility briefly.
