2K Games has welcomed Ben Brinkman from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the development team at 31st Union, which is currently crafting the forthcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as this innovative game.

Management Shift Comes After Poor Response

Brinkman takes on the role of studio head at the development studio following the exit of previous head the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was reportedly let go due to the game's underwhelming initial reveal last autumn.

Recently, the company's top executive a key figure updated team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which stressed that playtesting had revealed the necessity for a distinct vision.

Ismailer stated that the team is now refining the project with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy gamer demands.

This announcement follows a comparable action taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from the Diablo team to work on the beloved franchise development group.

Brinkman currently serves in the role of executive producer and production lead at the renowned studio for Apex Legends. Brinkman earlier worked at Treyarch and Activision in diverse development positions on the iconic franchise series, and, earlier in his career, had stints at 2K and Electronic Arts.

Project Ethos was revealed in October 2024 together with a community playtest. Then, the developers portrayed the game as a "free-to-play, 3rd-person action-packed experience and an thrilling evolution on the genre."
